INTENSIVE FAMILY-BASED THERAPY PROGRAM
This program, also known as "Home-Based Therapy", targets families whose children are at risk of being removed from the home, families who are in the process of re-unification, or families that need a high intensity of mental health care in order to stabilize the situation at home.
This program brings family therapy to your home two to four times per week, and has help and support available to you 24 hours per day. The program can last for up to six months.
In this program, families and the therapist work together as a team to explore and develop treatment plans and strategies. With family permission, the therapist also works closely with all other systems that your family may be involved with such as school, Juvenile Court or Children's Services.

THE EARLY MENTAL HEALTH INTERVENTION PROGRAM (EIP)
This broad program provides mental health services for children and their families right in the childŐs setting. These settings include selected child care centers, pre-schools, and elementary, middle, junior and high schools throughout Fairfield County.
In the child care centers we help staff identify and work with children who are having behavior problems or who may be at-risk for mental health or family difficulties. We also consult with teachers and parents, and assist them with solving specific problems related to their children or families. The intent is to make the child care experience a successful one for all children, and to intervene early with specific children and families when that is necessary
In selected pre-schools, elementary and middle schools the program goal is to identify and assist students who are at-risk for emotional, behavioral problems or alcohol and other drug problems. The intent is to provide targeted intervention during these critical periods of a child's life. The New Horizons Intervention Specialist consults frequently with parents and educators as that becomes necessary to foster student success within the school setting. Classroom presentations on a wide variety of topics are also provided to students upon school request.
In selected high schools the TeenScreen program screens students for risk factors that are associated with suicide. Students who test positive on the screening instrument receive same day follow-up by a licensed mental health professional, who also consults with parents and makes referrals as appropriate to the needs of each family. Training and awareness services related to depression and suicide risk are also provided to students, faculty and parents.
In all early mental health intervention programs parental permission is sought and obtained prior to any intervention with students.

INTEGRATED DUAL DISORDERS TREATMENT PROGRAM
This program is for adults who are experiencing both mental health as well as drug and/or alcohol difficulties. It provides one treatment team that is able to deal with the mental health and the drug/alcohol issues at the same time, and in a coordinated fashion. Service components can include case management, counseling, individual as well as group services, and psychiatric services. This program eliminates the need to go to two separate agencies for treatment. Our IDDT program is a recognized, national best-practice program.
